Workplace HIV/AIDS Education has become a priority for agencies with a social conscience. Since 1987, the Miami-Dade County Public Schools has offered a variety of trainings to staff about HIV/AIDS Education. The following workshops are currently offered:
- Teacher Education (two-day training workshops)
Comprehensive in-service education is provided to staff who will serve as curriculum resource persons for their schools. This includes medical information, sensitivity training, and specific curriculum implementation techniques. - In-service Trainings in Schools
These are approximately one hour discussions with school personnel to provide technical assistance. Assistance in using the HIV/AIDS curriculum, policy and procedure, use of materials and speakers, updated facts and information, universal precautions, support and compassion are provided. - Administrative Staff Education
School-site and central office administrators receive HIV/AIDS education in respect to personal safety, policy, curriculum updates, and managing HIV/AIDS issues in the workplace. - Non-Instructional Staff Education
Non-instructional staff receive HIV/AIDS education in respect to personal safety and job related issues. - Specialized Workshop Training
Training in skill building curricula and supplements are provided periodically throughout the year. - On-Site Technical Assistance
Staff will also be available to assist educators in implementing the required curriculum.
