All materials, printed or visual, used to support the HIV/AIDS curriculum must be approved by the HIV/AIDS Education Materials Review Committee (MRC). To ensure appropriate/accurate grade and age information on the extremely sensitive issue of HIV/AIDS, educators are asked to confer with the district office to determine if supplemental materials have been approved by the Materials Review Committee (MRC).
The Materials Review Committee consists of professionals from the HIV/AIDS prevention community and staff members from the HIV/AIDS Education Program. The committee meets every other month to review submitted materials. Once any material is approved, it is the responsibility of the teacher or school site to purchase the materials directly from the publisher or producer.
