Peer Education

The HIV/AIDS Education Program coordinates Peer Education Groups in secondary schools. Each club is run as an official after-school club, with a faculty member serving as the club sponsor. Students who join must complete training that includes HIV 104 information along with presentation and public speaking skills.

All participating schools develop their own club constitution and activities, and each member earns community service hours towards graduation. Members and club sponsors will be trained throughout the year by district staff. Volunteer services are encouraged and supported, as well as initiative in planning for special events such as AIDS WALK MIAMI, World AIDS Day, and AIDS Awareness Week.
